Responding to an Approval

Review what an agent wants to do before it happens, and decide whether it goes ahead.

By default, an agent asks before doing anything that changes something — sending an email, or creating, updating, or deleting something in a connected app. When that happens it shows an approval card  in the chat and waits for your decision before continuing. Just looking things up (reading a message, searching a doc) never needs approval. Auto mode  lets you switch this asking off for a conversation.

Where to Find It

The Auto mode toggle and any approval cards both live on the Chat  screen, right in the conversation where the agent is working.

Responding to an Approval Request

When Auto mode is off and the agent wants to take an action, it pauses and shows a card titled Approval needed  that tells you what it wants to do.

1
Review the details
Read what the agent is asking to do. Expand View parameters  to see the exact details it plans to use.
2
Approve or decline
Click Approve  to let the action run, or Decline  to stop it.
3
The agent continues
If you approve, the action runs and the agent carries on. If you decline, the agent is told and adjusts its response accordingly.

What the Card Shows After You Decide

Once you've responded — or the request times out — the card updates to show the outcome:

Card showsMeaning
Approval neededWaiting for your decision
ApprovedYou approved it and the action ran
Approved — action failedYou approved it, but the action hit an error
DeclinedYou declined it and the action was skipped
Approval expiredThe request timed out before a decision was made
ℹ️Note

An approval request doesn't wait forever. If it goes unanswered for long enough, it automatically expires and is treated the same as a decline — the action is skipped and the card is left showing Approval expired.
