MCP Tools
Connect to a Model Context Protocol server and expose its tools to an agent.
An MCP Server tool connects to a Model Context Protocol server that exposes a set of tools. Open the Create Tool form from Tools and set the Type to MCP Server, then work through these steps.
1
Name and describe it
Give the tool a name and description so you can recognize it later.
2
Enter the server details
Provide the Server URL. Optionally list specific Tool Names (comma-separated) to limit which of the server's tools the agent can use — leave it blank to allow all of them.
3
Choose authentication
Pick an authentication type for the server (see the table below).
4
Pick a transport
Choose Streamable HTTP or SSE.
5
Create the tool
Click Create Tool.
Authentication Types (MCP Servers)
| Option | What you enter |
|---|---|
| No Auth | Nothing |
| API Key | A header name (defaults to X-API-Key) and the key |
| OAuth | Client ID and Client Secret |
| Custom Headers | One or more header name/value pairs |
Once created, test the tool and turn it on for the agents that should use it. See Testing & Managing Tools and Assigning to Agents.
