Testing & Managing Tools

Try a tool before relying on it, then edit, enable, or delete it as needed.

Testing a Tool

Select a tool to open its details, then click Test  to try it right away. A function tool runs the request with the sample values you entered and shows the response. An MCP server lists the tools it exposes, so you can confirm the URL and credentials are correct. Either way, the result appears under Last Run Response.

Editing, Enabling & Deleting

1
Edit
Open the tool and click Edit. Sensitive values show as dots — leave them as-is to keep the saved value, or retype them to replace it.
2
Enable or disable
Use the switch on a tool to turn it on or off. A disabled tool is hidden from agents and won't be used automatically, though you can still test it yourself.
3
Delete
Click the trash icon and confirm. This can't be undone.
ℹ️Note

Sensitive credential values you enter for a tool — passwords, tokens, secrets, API keys — are encrypted before they're stored.

💡Tip

A tool can also be individually flagged to always require your approval before it runs, no matter what a conversation's Auto mode is set to. See Approvals Across the Product  for how that works.
