Global Tools & Assigning to Agents
Give a specific agent permission to use a tool, and understand what a Global Tool is.
Letting an Agent Use a Tool
Creating a tool adds it to your workspace, but each agent still needs to be given the tool before it can use it.
1
Open the agent
Go to the agent you want to give the tool to.
2
Go to its Tools tab
Open the agent's Tools tab.
3
Turn on the tools it may use
Switch on each tool the agent should be able to call.
💡Tip
Any credentials you enter for a tool are stored securely, and only used to run that tool for your agents.
Global Tools
By default, a tool you build yourself only exists in the workspace where you created it. Switching that tool's Global Tool setting on shares it across all of your own workspaces instead of just the current one.
Some tools you'll see are Global Tools you didn't create yourself — these are provided by the platform and are available to every workspace by default, as distinct from a tool you build from scratch.
